Teething 101

Every baby teethes on their own schedule, but here is the rough map, and how to get the most out of your monkey. If you are ever worried, check in with your GP or child health nurse.

3 to 6 monthsFirst signs: drooling, flushed cheeks, gum rubbing and chewing everything in reach
4 to 7 monthsFirst teeth arrive, usually the two bottom front teeth
10 to 14 monthsFirst molars push through, often the grumpiest stretch
16 to 23 monthsCanines fill the gaps between front teeth and molars
2 to 3 yearsSecond molars complete the set of 20 baby teeth
The textured bumps on the back of the Matchstick Monkey teether

Using the gel applicator

01

Load

Squeeze a pea-sized amount of your usual teething gel onto the textured bumps on the back of the monkey's head.

02

Hand it over

The easy-grip arms are shaped for little hands, so bub can steer it themselves and build motor skills as they go.

03

Let them chew

The bumps massage the gel onto sore gums, including hard-to-reach back molars, with no gel on fingers or faces.

Do

  • Pop the teether in the fridge for extra cooling relief
  • Clean regularly: steriliser, boiling water or the dishwasher
  • Use from 3 months right through to 3 years

Don't

  • Never put the teether in the freezer, frozen silicone is too hard for tender gums
  • Don't reuse a teether for a second child
